After losing the first two qualifying games in Herne (25-20) and at home to Gladbeck (20-26), we couldn't get used to the idea of playing Kreisliga in the 2020/2021 season. It was all the better to get the information that we would have another chance against DJK Wf Welper.
The game was on 19.09. out in Hattingen. The ban on adhesives and the difficult journey did not necessarily make the beginning easier for us. Then there was the failure of our left winger, who had injured himself during training the previous Thursday.
After a relatively good start (1-3, 4th minute) the hosts got better and better into the game and took the lead with 6-5 in the 9th minute. The game, which was partly commented on by extremely unqualified heckling from the home stand, remained exciting until the break (14-14).
After the necessary half-time approach, we showed a significant increase in performance and showed Welper why we are the better team. With four goals in a row we built a 14-18 (35 ') lead after the break. We didn't give it back. The disqualification against Welper in the 47th minute was only an addition and no longer decisive for the game when the score was between 18 and 25. After 60 minutes there was a not excellent, but quite acceptable and deserved 26-34 on the scoreboard. The top scorer that day was Tobias Spiekermann with nine goals followed by Jonas Rohlf with seven goals.
Thanks to the well-deserved victory, we will play in the next season 2020/2021 in the “District Oberliga”, which is a kind of association league. We want to play at the top and at least end up in the upper midfield at the end of the season.
